Babies and Facebook

The Branchburger got a chance to hang with the newest member of the Majewski family in early January-- rumor has it he is already on a strict diet of five bagels and two deep-dish pizzas a day. The visit to Chicago also answered some of life's other burning questions, like "What is Alexis Sivulich Russo's dog's name?"

(For future reference, Mia knows more random facts about Branchburgers than anyone else alive-- go on and test her).

Branchburger Random Video

End of the Year City Shenanigans

To properly close out 2010, a strong following of Branchburgers decided to gather together one last time to celebrate all that was the past year. Unfortunately, due to whooping cough, Law & Order and emergency cosmetic procedures on rodents, the number of participants was greatly dwindled. Nonetheless, the core group of attendees had a fantastic time-- starting with a boozy brunch at PJ Clarke's, followed by a walk through Central Park, a stunning view of Times Square from 41 floors in the air, bratwurst and beer and some intoxicated ice skating (courtesy of some of the best alcoholic hot chocolate that the Branchburger has ever drank). See below for a photographic walk through the day's activities-- more photos (and even some video!) soon to come...

Happy 2011 to Branchburgers everywhere!

A new addition to the B-burg family

A new little nugget was added to the family on 12/23/10. Michael Joseph Majewski entered the world just in time for the holidays. As uncle Stephen stated, "It was a Festivus miracle!" Mom and baby are doing well.

The Branchburg Effect

The Branchburg influence can be seen everywhere these days. Take, for instance, these young scholars out on their way to a local study group. They could be overheard commenting on how "'Burg" they were and how they were hoping their wouldnt be any "grenades" at White Oak Park. It's like looking in a mirror....

It won't be long before The Branchburg Effect comes to your town...Clifton I am looking in your direction. We are about to go "Mannion's" all up in your grill.

The End of Thanksgiving Football?

From an anonymous tipster:

The Thanksgiving football game ended prematurely on the fifth play when John [Majewski] ruptured a tendon in his knee. He was taken off the field by the Hillsborough Rescue squad. He's got a soft cast on it now, until he can have surgery to re-attach it back in Chicago. Needless to say, this may sound the death knell of the game forever. It was bound to happen eventually. Happy Thanksgiving.

Was this the last Thanksgiving game? Will next year's game be moved to the new BSC (Branchburg Sports Complex)? Is two-hand touch the new tackle? All questions to be answered...

NYC Marathon: The Branchburger Spirit Squad

A favorite activity amongst Branchburgers who live in the city is to gather and watch the New York City Marathon. The day typically consists of gathering for a boozy breakfasting, testing the group's sign-making skills, heading to Second Avenue to watch the runners, back for more "breakfast" and then over to Central Park to watch the runners at Mile 25. This year's race was even more fun given that Branchburger Gillian Kost and her dad were running the race right alongside such notables as Al Roker, Veronica Webb, The Chilean Miner and Otis Elevator's very-own Renata.

Branchburger Spotting: Halloween

Branchburgers-turned-celebrities Katy Perry (fresh from her appearance on SNL) and Justin Bieber were seen out and about on Halloween weekend...

Cindy's 29+1 Birthday

Another birthday, another excuse for Branchburgers to rally together, catch up over some drinks and inevitably end up at Sing Sing on St. Marks for hours of karaoke. Needless to say, that there will be many more karaoke-related posts on this blog in the future (and the glasses will be explained)...

The Hunt (For Branchburgers)

Some may be surprised to know that every October, more than 40,000 people converge on Somerset County for the Far Hills Races, commonly known as The Hunt. What's even more suprising is when former Branchburgers who haven't seen each other in more than 15 years are able to find each other in this huge crowd.

On another note: does a Branchburg Central Class of '98 Reunion sound at all like a good idea?

Rutgers Football: From Tailgates to Tacos

Things Learned From The Rutgers-UNC Football Game:
  1. Branchburgers aren't the classiest tailgaters, but we are improving...
  2. Ladderball can be a surprisingly intense game
  3. Traveling on NJ Transit should be its own competitive sport
  4. The "Jersey Shore" way of life has creeped up from the shore and now thrives in the Blue Lot outside of the stadium (see video below)
  5. Next time you are in the mood for quality Mexican food and friendly service, be sure to go to Marita's Cantina in New Brunswick and ask for Jimmy.

Summer 2010 Gang Get-Together: Branchburgers at the Jersey Shore

Hair bumps, fist pumps and an endless supply of characters on the boardwalk... the Jersey Shore did not disappoint!
